Harvest mission

I bought my girls a pumpkin for fall. Well we all got it. I wanted to make pumpkin seeds, pumpkin soup, and pumpkin butter. So the process begun. I got out the recipe for Pumpkin Butter…
Simple Crock Pot Apple Pumpkin Butter
Yield: 16 ounces | Prep Time: 5 min | Cook Time: 5 hours (inactive)
2 cups of pureed pumpkin (or one 15 oz. BPA-free can)
½ cup of unsweetened applesauce
1/3 cup organic palm sugar ( I used equal amounts of Stevia)
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
¼ tsp. ground nutmeg
1/8 tsp. ground ginger
1/8 tsp. ground cloves
1/8 tsp. cardamom
Combine all ingredients in your crock pot, and set it to the lowest setting. Cover, and let cook for about 5 – 6 hours, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
Turn crock pot off, and let cool. Once cool, spoon into glass jar and cool completely in refrigerator before using. It keeps in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks (if it lasts that long) and in the freezer for up to six months. I canned mine and this batch I did 6 X the amount.

I started but cutting it open then scooped out the seeds and stringy strands. Then cubed it up. I left the skin on one batch and removed it from the other half. I boiled half in each pan.

Once it was cooked to tender (a fork pokes it and slides off).

I took the cubes out onto a plate and smashed them with a fork then scrapped them into a blender and made them into a smooth paste.

From the blender I kept counting the amounts of pumpkin and putting them in the Crock Pot.
Then I had it all smashed and smoothed I added the rest of the ingredients.
I had the spices all lined up and then forgot to take the picture but the smells were great coming from the kitchen.
Sojust let it cook and cook and cook… Now for canning fun. Well Labels. I found lots of good ones. Here are three of them.

This is the one I created from one of them that I played with. I printed them out on address labels Avery 5351 was the labels I used. The site lets you design and print online.
For my sister in Christ Lisbeth I did it with hemp and beads and the green label handwritten.
Then I played some more and came up with these labels and some fabric.
First gotta cool and make sure they pop.

Tada, I used an old 60’s hippy type skirt from along time ago cut circles about 7inches round and tied them with some hemp. I think my sisters in Christ should like them. I mean even if you aren’t a pumpkin fan who doesn’t like tie dye!!!
