SELFIE

Word of the year… Selfie!!!
Have you taken yours today?

Selfie… Have you posted yours today?

Our society has taken us so many great places as well as too far. We are so absorbed in self. Do we see the other side. What others see when they see us. Are we true to what we show to others. Posting to social media sites what we want people to see us as. Taking many shots of a pose to be sure we got one where everything looks good, or atleast not bad.
I am sure you have seen the picture of the little girl with the fly landing on her eye as the tv commercial rolls. That may have taken a long time to get that shot but it is what they wanted to convey.
What are you saying with your selfies…? What am I saying with mine…? Are we the picture of Jesus as we take them or are we self serving an ego building. Is it pride that we take it. The other day driving through Hollywood, FL. I saw a man sleeping on a bus bench… We went by too fast for a picture, But I did pray for him. There were people walking by looking at him. I have friends still out there living like that… A picture is worth a thousand words how about yours.

P.S. I’d love to hear from you. Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to say hello!!!

Picture being face to face

OurFather
Hallowed= honor as holy.
Today is day 326 of this year… we only get 365… we got 39 left.
What are your plans if Jesus doesn’t come before that?
Are you prepared if  Jesus does come?
We will be standing before Him face to face,  think of that as you pray. Imagine His Holiness, don’t put Him in a box.

Happy Thanksgiving

I got some great Thanksgiving graphics over @ tuckdb.org/
I just had to share and throw in Scripture. Because truly if it was not for God. We would have nothing to be thankful for.
Psalm 95:2-3 Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.  For the LORD is the great God, the great King above all gods.

1 Corinthians 1:4-5 I always thank God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus.  For in him you have been enriched in every way–in all your speaking and in all your knowledge–

2 Corinthians 4:15-16   All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.  Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.

2 Corinthians 9:11-12 You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.  This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.

With all honesty I thank Godfor you and pray you have a blessed weekend. Please leave a comment I thank you for the time you take to do so.

Chair Cushions DIY

Hello everyone! Today I was really busy making new cushions for the kitchen chairs.
CAM00106 CAM00107

First step was to get some of packing paper that came with some books in the mail.  It was study and so I put it on the seat and went around the bottom of the chair with a pencil to trace and then cut out the shape. It fit so then I cut four of these out of some foam I had salvaged from an unstained or soiled couch cushion. Which I had washed and dried so it was ready to go. Next  it was time to cut out heavy weight material that I had picked because of the vibrant pattern. This way accidental spills wont be so noticeable.

CAM00111 CAM00112
I also cut out two strips about 1 1/2 in wide the length of which would go around the seat cushion, plus cut some extra about 10-12 inches for the ties to hold the cushion in place.  This is what allows the thickness to to be more even and then once I had the strips pinned in place. sorry no pictures of the sewing part I was so into it I just went with it. Right sides together you start by sewing one strip in place all the way around the top part of cushion. Do the same for the bottom part of cushion however leave open the back part of the cushion so that you can put in the foam.Once the foam is in you can move it around to fit into the edges, Now grab  the extra 10-12 inch piece fold in half right sides together.  Next put a safety pin into one end and draw it so it is right side out an you will have a nice tie. Fold it in half  and pin into that open seam one on each side of the open seam. Now sew up your seams and tie them on.

As I was tying them on she was making herself comfortable. That is my girl Gorda she is always looking for ways to be involved with me.

Dress Upsized and Upscaled

I got some great clothing from my sister. Which were good labels and nearly new. But size 8 which I am not anymore…I took this great dress and another which I had from my days of too tight, too short, and too low. Put them together and bang. Well you’ll see it took a little more effort than that.
CAM00120 CAM00121
This is the neat size 8 and I sat here on my bed and ripped the seams up both sides from hem to sleeve hem.

CAM00122
Then the other dress and some black scrap I may use may not…? You be the judge.
I cut Up the side seam of the second dress about 3 inch wide strips with both seams I got four long piece strips. I used the already made hem and lined it up with the other dress right sides together. I took the other piece and lined it’s hem up with the sleeve hem. There they meet at the armpit and all is good. then sew the back and front pieces together.
CAM00123
This is the pinning process

CAM00124
This is the sewn in place part.

CAM00125

This is the done and on me shot!!!
So here is my question for you… ? Should I border the bottom in the black oh and should I add a bow to the back…?
Sorry for the blurry shots for this my back has been killing me.

CAM00131 CAM00133
Without bow………….            With the bow…………
Oh I don’t have a picture of the border but by the pictures a 2-3 inch border.
I thank you in advance for the time you took to read and to comment I know time is precious and noone wants to waste time. I value your input, and your friendship.
God’s grace, peace, light, and love to you today and always in Jesus’ service, Doreen

Baked Kale Crisps DIY

CAM00066
Well these are the finished product. Yummo… But Would I make them again remains to be seen Kale does last along time in the refrigerator so maybe with this same bunch. You can buy it pre-cut however I bought a huge bunch and chunked it up myself.
So let me give you the recipe first

Ingredients:

  • 2 bunches kale
  • 2 heaping Tb. sunflower seed butter (or any savory nut butter. I have used tahini)
  • 1 Tb. olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp. chili powder (or substitute curry powder)
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Wash the kale and dry thoroughly with paper towels. Pull the leaves off the center ribs in large pieces, and place in a large bowl. Discard the ribs. ( I compost mine)
  2. In a small bowl mix the nut butter, oil, spices, and salt. Pour over the kale. Use your hands to massage the kale leaves until each one is evenly coated with the spice mixture. You don’t want any of the leaves to be drenched in the mixture, so take your time doing this. The more evenly the kale leaves are coated, the better they will bake.
  3. Lay the kale leaves out flat on 3-4 full sized baking sheets (work in batches if necessary.) Do not overlap. Bake for 10-11 minutes until crisp, but still green. Cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet before moving. If some kale chips are still a little flimsy or damp, remove the crisp chips and place the damp chips back in the oven for a few more minutes. Store in an air-tight container.

    Kale chipso
This was the color of it I started to spread it on and thought oh I should be Blogging about these.
    CAM00064
Here I am massaging my Kale to evenly coat each piece.
And you saw the finished bowlful. So is it something you might try? They get really crispy and are very flavorful. I was surprised I had a friend over and she even liked them. Husband of course would have liked them better with butter, cheese and or bacon!!! Let me know what you think if you would make them and if you liked them. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you for taking the time to comment.
