DIY Lighted Holy Family/Nativity

DIY Lighted Joseph and Mary heads

For the heads

I am the Angel tree coordinator for my Church. I used to be a Wiccan… So needless to say I do not use Santa Claus or Christmas trees for my ministry or the party. I go with the Nativity and a huge Angel tree. I keep my theme winter with  snowflakes, white, blue, silver and gold. Here is a few pictures from last year…

As you can see from the pictures it was a wintery Jesus ‘ Birthday!!! I had borrowed the lighted Nativity set from a friend. This year I thought I need one…Costco had one for $500… um not in my budget. So I am making my own. With paper mache and a few other gathered things. I got wigs for Joseph and Mary from my sisters costumes, as well as an old luau straw skirt for the Precious Baby Jesus to lay in. I am going to buy a baby boy from the dollar store and swaddle Him. I am going to try and make the heads lighted. So I am going to show you the steps to make the heads.
I used 1 cup of flour, 1cup of white glue and 1/2 c water for the paste.
I ripped strips of white packing paper about an inch wide.(of course some were thicker some thinner some tapered)
Then i dipped the paper strips in the paste mixture, took of the excess against the side of the bowl and started pasting them on the balloon overlapping them.
